Rana is the President and CEO of Blue Lagoon Resources Inc., a mineral exploration company focused on the acquisition, exploration, and development of properties for the mining of gold and other minerals. He is the Founder of the 100 Year Journey, a community project committed to preserving the stories of the South Asian pioneers that helped build Canada. In 1993, he founded and published Mehfil Magazine, the first full-colour Canadian South Asian lifestyle magazine. Rana is the former Chair of the BC Open Learning Agency and was the Executive Vice President at RTN Stealth Software. He was the President and CEO of Musgrove Minerals Corp and Chairman of the Board and CEO of Continental Precious Minerals.

  • Roger Holdstock

    Roger Holdstock

    Retired Employee | Film Studies Pioneer

    Roger was an English Instructor and Chair of the Langara English department. He made significant contributions to Langara’s Theatre Arts, Interdisciplinary, and Continuing Studies departments, introducing Film Studies as a discipline at Langara. Roger also developed the College’s first screenwriting course in collaboration with Studio 58–a project that would go on to become the Langara Film Arts program. He was an active faculty member serving on the Board of the Langara Faculty Association and founded the Langara Gala, an annual event that raised funds for student success. Roger continues to be a strong supporter of the College, funding The Roger Holdstock Scholarship that supports students in a film-related English course. Roger served as the Provincial Articulation Chair of Creative Writing and in 1992, he received the ACCC National Teaching Excellence Award, and in 2005, the Langara Teaching Excellence award. Roger currently serves as Vice-Chair of the Board of the DOXA Documentary Film Festival and Secretary on the Board of Directors of the 110 Arts Co-operative. He is a member of the folk band Fraser Union.

    Gavin Jones

    Langara Alum | Social Advocate & Business Leader

    Gavin is the Director of Operations at EMBERS, the Eastside Movement for Business and Economic Renewal Society. He graduated from Langara College with a BBA in Business Management in 2017 and took on his role at EMBERS in 2018. EMBERS is a Vancouver-based charity and the only not-for-profit temporary staffing agency in Canada. Their mission is to create economic and employment opportunities for people living on low incomes. Through his work, Gavin helps thousands of people facing barriers to work by offering economic and employment opportunities including job placements, training, and support. Gavin is also on the Advisory Committee of the Company of Young Professionals for the Greater Vancouver Board of Trade.

  • Bob Matthews

    Bob Matthews

    Community Member | Langara Pioneer

    Bob was a Board Member on Langara Board of Governors and Chair of the Administration and Finance Committee. He played an instrumental role during the transition of the College from a campus of Vancouver Community College to Langara College. He worked tirelessly to convince the provincial Ministry of Education to consider making Langara an independent post-secondary institution. Bob is a retired businessman and currently serves as a director of a number of listed-companies and maintains an active interest in the junior resource sector. He is a long-time supporter of high performance sailing in Canada and was the Commodore of the Royal Vancouver Yacht Club in 2004, served as President of BC Sailing, and was on the Board of Classic Yacht Association. Bob continues to be an active sailor and racer.
