West Coast music legends and emerging artists headline Community Day

Vancouver, BC – Langara College has assembled an outstanding lineup of local, West Coast music to perform live at Community Day presented by RBC Royal Bank on June 15.

Headliners 54-40 will take the stage from 3:45pm-5:00 pm. Launched in an East Vancouver bar in 1981, 54-40 boast three platinum-selling albums: Dear Dear, Smilin’ Buddha Cabaret, and Trusted By Millions, and one Canadian gold-selling album, Since When.  They will be touring across Canada later this summer. 54-40 were inducted into the Canadian Music Industry Hall of Fame in 2017.

Git Hayetsk Dancers
An internationally renowned Northwest Coast First Nations mask-dancing group.

Vancouver sextet playing hook-driven indie pop/soul for a modern audience, with a nod to Motown and classic soul.

A musical ensemble covering a range of favourites.

Desirée Dawson
Known for her soulful folk sound, a versatile artist who can captivate a crowd with a stripped-down ukulele set or get folks up and dancing with a full band or electronic dance track. 2016 CBC Searchlight winner.

Folk singer accompanied by the No Frills String Band and graduate of Langara’s Singer-Songwriter program.
