In September 2009, I began my post-secondary journey at Langara after a friend convinced me to apply. I didn’t think post-secondary education was in the cards for me after the challenging time I had had with academics in high school, but I was feeling uncertain about what else I would do with my future so I decided to give it a shot. I was pleasantly surprised to find that I absolutely loved my classes, and was even getting high grades! I soon found myself feeling confidant enough about my academic ability to consider pursuing a Bachelor’s degree. After transferring, in 2014 I graduated from the University of British Columbia with a BA in Political Science. I am now an Academic Advisor at the University of British Columbia, and I am proud to say that I help other students navigate the path towards the completion of their own University degrees. Although my degree is from UBC, my time studying at Langara was indispensable to my academic success later on. In a smaller supportive environment, I re-gained the confidence that I once had to believe in my own ability, and developed a love for learning that will carry me forward in all pursuits throughout the rest of my life.
